June 2025 – Portalegre, Portugal
At the beginning of June, a group of deaf students from Agrupamento de Escolas do Bonfim in Portalegre embarked on a special study visit to Sintra, an unforgettable journey of learning, connection, and pure joy. This visit highlighted how important it is to provide deaf students with opportunities to explore and celebrate their cultural identity. With our support, transportation and meal expenses were covered, ensuring the students and their educators fully engaged in these invaluable activities.
The day began with a visit to Agrupamento de Escolas Monte da Lua, a Reference School for Bilingual Education of Deaf Students – EREBAS, where the students had the opportunity to connect with other deaf peers, nurturing meaningful moments of interaction that are crucial to the development of their personal and collective identity.
Afterwards, the students visited the Air Museum, where they were awestruck by the chance to step inside a historic military aircraft that famously completed the first Lisbon–Luanda flight, sparking excitement and curiosity. To top off the day, the group headed to a trampoline park, where laughter and joy filled the air, the perfect way to end an extraordinary day.
This project is part of a broader initiative supported by our group to promote social and educational inclusion for students with profound hearing loss, creating opportunities for their social interaction and skill development.
